    Giovanni Herbert, also known as Gio, is an Information Officer for the Government of the Virgin Islands. He is also a Radio Personality with a Hip-Hope show that carries the acronym, C.L.E.A.R. meaning City Light Explosion Aerial Response. He has an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies from Harford Community College and he is a graduate of Arts from the BVI High School, Class of 2000. Gio is a freestyle poet by passion and has shared this style at Open Mics and the legendary Microphone Messenjah event on Tortola. He has featured pieces in Where I See The Sun – Contemporary Poetry in the Virgin Islands (2016). In 2012, he substituted as an English Teacher to his Alma Mater, the Elmore Stoutt High School (formerly named BVI High School) as well as the Willard Wheatley Primary School. In addition to Gio’s interest and experience in the Arts and Education, he has hosted various programs; graduations and concerts, namely the HLSCC Christmas Concert and the HLSCC’s Passport to Opportunities panel discussion. Gio is also the voice that introduces the speakers for TEDxRoadTown to name a few. A decorated United States Marine Corps Combat Veteran, Gio has captured Awards and honors including a Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon to name a few.
